Remote Learning Program

Dear DCSD Families,

You are receiving this email because you have a student or students enrolled in the fully remote learning program via eDCSD.

During the registration process last spring, families selecting fully remote learning for 2021-2022 were asked to agree to some requirements, including committing to the program for the entire 2021-2022 school year, and then transitioning back to full, in-person learning for 2022-2023.

In addition, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) recently updated their learning flexibilities for the 2022-2023 school year. CDE will continue to offer flexibility for school districts to provide temporary remote learning options should COVID health concerns arise. However, they are discontinuing flexibilities for school districts to provide 100% remote learning options to students enrolled in brick-and-mortar schools due to COVID.

As a result, the one-year only, fully remote learning program through eDCSD will no longer be available after this school year. Therefore, we want to provide you with your options so that you can make an informed decision for the 2022-2023 school year.

  1. Return to Your Neighborhood School for In-Person Learning

Students currently enrolled in the eDCSD remote learning program will be automatically enrolled in their neighborhood school for the 2022-2023 school year for in-person learning. Families who are comfortable with this option do not need to take any action.

  2. Apply to enroll in eDCSD Blended Learning

Families may enroll their student(s) in the eDCSD blended learning program (a mix of in-person and remote learning) for 2022-2023. Enrollment is limited and on a space-available basis. To learn more about this option, visit the eDCSD website.

  3. Explore Other Educational Options in DCSD

DCSD offers a variety of learning options including district-run schools, charter schools, magnet schools, and even home school options. Visit our choice enrollment page for more information

While the remote learning option through eDCSD was only intended to be available through 2021-2022 school year, we realize that it creates a transition for affected families. We want to provide you the time needed to make the best decision for your student(s).

Should you have any questions regarding your options for the upcoming school year, please contact your neighborhood school principal, or visit the links above.

Thank you for being a part of the Douglas County School District family!
