Parent University offers school finance classes

DOUGLAS COUNTY – School funding, school finance and school budgets are topics that generate great interest from all of our Douglas County stakeholders. And for the many families new to Colorado, our funding model is quite different than other states.

The complexity of school finance in Colorado can be daunting, even to those who work in the Colorado public school system. The Parent University courses will explain the intricacies of this system in a way that makes sense and promotes informed dialog. Classes will explore school funding mandates set by the state legislature and examine the DCSD budget, capital needs and current funding levels.

Three class dates are avaiable to choose from, providing options for each region of DCSD. The District's budget director and the planning and construction director will talk about issues facing school finance, the District's budget and how DCSD is structured financially to meet the increasing needs of our students, teachers and staff.
